What is the News Feed?

The News Feed is your window onto your city. It shows a series of Cards, each created by your fellow citizens or by your city. You can have your say by creating your own Card, or you can delve deeper by filtering the news feed by topic (Activities and Social, Local Politics, Environment etc.) or by Card type (Petition, Event, Issue etc.).

What is a Card?

Each piece of content is displayed as a Card. There are 7 types of Cards:

Clicking on a Card takes you to the Card View, except for Links, though the Card View here can be accessed via Comments.

The left menu allows you to filter by Card type. For instance, if you only want to see Poll Cards, click on Poll from the left menu. Each Card is associated with a corresponding Topic. The News Feed can be filtered by Topic. Cards are created via the Mini Publisher or Full Publisher. The Publisher is accessed via the Mini Publisher, located at the top of the News Feed.

Can I edit or delete a Card?

Yes, you can delete or edit a Card you published whenever you want. To delete or edit a Card click on the settings icon of the Cards. The symbol of the settings is a gear, and will appear in the right side of the Card once you move the mouse on the Card. Click on the settings icon, the Delete and Edit option will be displayed, click on the preferred action.

What is the Mini Publisher?

The Mini Publisher gives you the choice of quickly publishing a new Issue, posting a new Petition or starting a new Poll. It is a quick way to create a new Card and share it online with your Civiciti community.

Once you click on one of the 3 Mini Publisher options you are taken through to the Full Publisher.

What is the Publisher?

The Publisher gives a range of options for publishing. You can choose what type of Card you want to create (event, poll, petition etc.) from the options located at the top of the homepage.

Posting a new item on Civiciti has been designed to be quick and easy via the Publisher. This allows you to choose from a wide range of Card types, including, but not limited to, Petitions, Events and Polls.

What is an Issue?

An issue is where you can share a message with Civiciti users intended to raise awareness of something. It could be a problem that needs attention, a reminder of an important event in the city, news from your neighborhood or city that you want to share, or a concern you may have. Creating an Issue can provoke discussion and debate, with other users able to comment and contribute solutions. An Issue can lead to use of further Civiciti features such as a Petition or a Poll.

How do I create an Issue?

To create an issue, click on Issue on the Minipublisher, in Civiciti homepage. Clicking on it you will be redirected to the full publications options, the Publisher. To publish an Issue, you have to write: the title, the description and a topic an issue is related with.

Furthermore, you could include a Picture or Video or Poll related with the issue. As well you can set a location, in the map, whether by typing the address or by clicking on the map. Finally, click on Post for your Card to become public.

How do I create an Event?

To create an event, click on Issue on the Minipublisher, in Civiciti homepage. Clicking on it you will be get to the full publications options, the Publisher. As for other post, to publish an Event, you have to write: the title, the description and a topic an issue is related with.

To allow everyone to attend the event, it is important not to forget to set the event time and date, and how long the event will last. If no time and date is indicated, the time and date will be, by default, the current time and date.

Furthermore, you could include a Picture or Video or Poll related with the issue. As well you can set a location, in the map, whether by typing the address or by clicking on the map. Finally, click on Post for your Card to become public. As well, especially for the Events post, it is fundamental to indicate a location.  You can easily show the event location in the map, in the bottom part of the Car, by typing the address or by clicking on the map. Furthermore, you could include a Picture or Video or Poll related with the issue.

Finally, click on Post for your Card to become public.

How do I create a link?

To create a link, click on Issue on the Minipublisher, in Civiciti homepage. Clicking on it you will be get to the full publications options, the Publisher. Click on Link. Copy the link and paste it. Choose a topic.

How do I use the Map when publishing a new Card?

When creating a new Card on the Publisher page, you can pinpoint the location corresponding to it. For instance, you may want to publish a new Card to raise awareness regarding a broken street light. With the map, you can display exactly where it is located. This helps other Civiciti users by showing the location visually.

Can I add Documents in Power Point or PDF?

So far Civiciti doesn’t include adding documents in Power Point or PDF. Yet, if these documents are available online it’s possible to attach a link to them in the platform, allowing other users to easily access them.
